AutoCAD WS, Autodesk’s DWG viewing and editing application for mobile platforms (iOS, Android), received an update to version 1.5 bringing with it new design collaboration tools.
For example, the new Design Feed feature adds a Twitter or Facebook style stream to shared drawings. With it, users can organize comments within a drawing. Designers and others can also be tagged and invited contribute input. In addition, the update allows users to pin photos to specific locations within drawings to provide visual clarity and feedback
The update follows on research from Forrester report that predicts 82 million U.S. consumers will own tablets and 159 million smartphones by 2015, one-third of which will be used for work. As the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, the research firm predicts a number of tablet and smartphone application functions will become critical including document-based collaboration, activity alerts and access to internal blogs, wikis and community sites.
