Monthly, quarterly plans provide pay-as-you-go option for intermittent users.

13-aug-rent-inventor-Autodesk-360Autodesk quietly announced that it is offering month-to-month and quarterly rental plans for its AutoCAD Inventor LT and AutoCAD Revit LT suites. At US$95 per month each, the program is intended to allow customers to scale CAD licensing up or down easily to accommodate temporary projects or staffing requirements. Regular price for each suite is US$1,495 for a perpetual, commercial license.

Under the agreement, users download and install the software locally through Autodesk’s online store. All design data created using the full-featured, commercial versions is also stored locally but can also be stored on the company’s servers through an Autodesk 360 account.

Once purchased, the plans are non-transferable and are linked to a specific individual userID. Also, perpetual licenses can’t be converted to rental plans or rental to perpetual. While the software doesn’t need to be constantly connected online, it will stop working if it doesn’t “check in” through the Internet with Autodesk after 14 days. According to the Autodesk, the self-renewing monthly plan is only available through its online store but quarterly plans are also available through resellers.
