DALSA Corp. acquired

WATERLOO, Ontario – Teledyne Technologies Incorporated and announced that it will acquire DALSA Corporation for approximately CAD $341 million. Headquartered in Waterloo, the digital imaging and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) company employs approximately 1,000 people worldwide and had sales of approximately CAD $201 million for the twelve months ended September 30, 2010.

California-based Teledyne Technologies designs and manufacturers electronic subsystems, instrumentation and communication products, engineered systems, aerospace engines, and energy and power generation systems, primarily in the U.S., UK and Mexico.

“With the acquisition of DALSA, Teledyne is making a substantial commitment to Canada. We are especially attracted to strong support for research and development and advancement of technology provided by both the Canadian Federal and Provincial Governments of Ontario and Quebec,” said Dr. Robert Mehrabian, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Teledyne. “Following the acquisition of DALSA, and the previously announced divestiture of Teledyne Continental Motors, Teledyne will be transformed into a pure-play electronics, instrumentation and engineering focused company.”

According to the companies’, the company will change its name to Teledyne DALSA but will retain its existing locations and management team.
