Excelsior Engineering selected as EPCM contractor by Field Upgrading

General DPNCALGARY, Alberta - Excelsior Engineering has been selected as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor by Field Upgrading for the construction of an innovative pilot facility.
This project aims to commercialize a technology to improve the economics of upgrading Alberta’s bitumen.
Excelsior Engineering is a Calgary, Alberta-based facilities engineering firm. Excelsior provides project engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM), production optimization, environmental/regulatory and operational troubleshooting services to the Oil & Gas industry.
In 2012, Excelsior Engineering joined efforts with Vepica Grupo Internacional (Vepica), a multinational engineering and construction company based in Spain and with offices in Houston, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and China. Vepica is the ideal partner for Excelsior as they provide a growth platform from which Excelsior’s strength in streamlined project execution can safely transition into a broader base of major project opportunities.
Field Upgrading is a privately owned company leading the commercialization of the patented MSU process for use in Alberta’s oil sands. This scalable, cost-effective process produces a high-yield, sweet heavy oil product with no TAN or heavy metals from a variety of heavy sour crudes that is suitable for transport with minimal or no diluent or for direct use as a fuel source.
