15-Jan-Siemens-cellular-rounter-360Siemens unveiled its Ruggedcom RX1400, a multiprotocol router that combines Ethernet switching, routing, VPN and firewall functionality with various WAN connectivity options. The device operates continuously within a -40° C to +85° C temperature range using a fanless design, and is equipped with a rugged metal housing that supports DIN rail, panel or rack mounting.

Both IEC61850-3 and IEEE 1613 Class 2 compliant, the router supports commercial 4G (LTE) networks but is able to rollback to 2G and 3G wireless connectivity, if necessary. In addition it also has a dual SIM card slot and can be used with two optional small form factor pluggable fiber optic transceivers (SFPs). It integrated GNSS (GPS/GLONASS) functionality allows the device to report its location.
