Calgary-based Spartan Controls has partnered with MatrikonOPC, based in Edmonton, to offer vendor neutral OPC training. Spartan Controls is a foremost supplier of control solutions and instrumentation in Western Canada.

“Spartan Controls has always been a strong believer in providing educational courses that matter to our customers,” said Bill Elliott, services manager of Spartan Controls. “We believe that partnering with the world’s largest OPC training provider, MatrikonOPC will further extend our training offering to the process control industry. MatrikonOPC has put a great deal off effort into producing PLC OPC servers for brands including Allen Bradley PLCs, GE Fanuc PLCs, Modbus, OMRON, Profinet and Siemens, to name a few. Typically discrete manufacturing systems deal with everything from digital inputs to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that activate functions in robotic devices on assembly lines. MatrikonOPC technology provides out-of-the-box connectivity to the PLCs in discrete manufacturing and presents high-quality data to users. This, the company says, enables faster and more effective business decisions to be made to optimize processes, limit equipment downtime, and reduce waste.

“It is a great opportunity for MatrikonOPC to partner with an industry leader like Spartan Controls,” said Sean Leonard, vice-president of MatrikonOPC. “This partnership will allow for both of our companies to expand our breadth of offering to our clients. At the end of the day, meeting our client’s needs is our main goal.”
