Machine designers can incorporate Festo’s new ELGA-TB-G electric toothed belt axis with plain-bearing guide into their project as a complete, run-ready sub-system rather than spend time designing an in-house solution out of multiple parts.

The ELGA-TB-G is suitable for applications involving simple positioning and handling tasks where loads need to be fed externally – in other words, wherever a basic plain-bearing guide with a rigid profile will do the trick, even those functions dealing with large loads or requiring long strokes.

In almost any application where work pieces are guided externally, using the ELGA-TB-G is more cost-effective than employing an electric axis with recirculating ball bearing guide.

The ELGA-TB-G axis has a flexible motor attachment and is compatible with all common stepper and servo motors.

The motor can be mounted on any of four sides and its position can be changed at any time. The ELGA-TB-G delivers high feed forces and achieves travel speeds of up to 5 m/s as well as acceleration of up to 50 m/s².

Festo’s Positioning Drives sizing software helps users select the right axis, while the Festo Configuration Tool FCT ensures convenient and easy commissioning. The ELGA-TB-G comes in three sizes and offers a maximum working stroke of 8,500 mm.
