Autodesk cuts price of Fusion 360 Ultimate

Fusion 360’s CAM capabilities, driven by the same kernel behind HSMWorks and Inventor HSM, lets users generate and simulate toolpaths through it’s cloud-based interface.
In addition to 3D modeling, Fusion 360 users will now get simulation, animations, 3-axis machining and drawing layout, among other capabilities. Fusion 360 will also remain free for students, educators, schools, hobbyists and startups.

The future is being re-written every day and huge disruptive changes – from crowd-funding to digital fabrication to cloud-based engineering software – are upon us,” said Andrew Anagnost, senior vice president, Industry Strategy and Marketing, Autodesk. “Never has the ability to create a physical product been so accessible to everyone. We are matching that accessibility by completely redrawing the lines for the availability of 3D CAD/CAM tools – enabling anyone with a good idea to make it a reality.”
The company also announced it has partnered with participating 3D printer and desktop CNC machine makers to including a free 1-year commercial Fusion 360 subscription with sales of their machines. Participating hardware partners include Biobots, BoXZY, CNCRouterParts, MYDIYCNC, OMAX, Other Machine, Pocket NC, Printrbot, Type A Machines and Tormach. Autodesk says other companies will be added to the list in the future.
