The BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 motorcycle was designed to give riders an unbounded vehicle experience.

BMW MotorradBMW is showing off its latest VISION NEXT 100 design. The automaker has chosen to unveil the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 in the United States, one of its biggest motorcycle markets.

Dubbed “motorcycle of the future”, the new design was created to give riders an unbounded ride experience. Connecting the rider, bike and outside world was key in the design process.

The assistance systems in the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 will not only anticipate and advise when action is needed but also intervene, when required, to keep riders safe. Not only that, but BMW has developed the prototype with the rider in mind, eliminating the need for protective clothing and helmets.

BMW Motorrad Motorcycle VISION 100The designers behind the motorcycle have developed a key assistance system which includes a Self-Balancing mechanism. This feature balances the motorcycle while in motion and stationary, preventing it from tipping over. This allows for riders of all skill levels to enjoy the experience without safety concerns.

The Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 is equipped with a smart visor, where information is exchanged between the rider and the bike. The visor spans the rider’s field of view, and projects relevant information without compromising line of sight.

“In terms of design and function, the BMW Motorrad VISION NEXT 100 takes its cues from various striking elements in the history of BMW Motorrad, adding a contemporary twist each time,” the automaker explains in a press release. The company delved into its archives and developed the motorcycle with iconic elements.

BMW explains that the black frame triangle dates back to the first ever motorcycle by BMW Motorrad, the R32, made in 1923.

BMW MotorradFrom a side view, the Vision Vehicle resembles a naked bike, with the ergonomics and seating position of a roadster. The forms and execution of the power unit resemble the traditional BMW boxer engine, but it is actually a zero-emission drivetrain.

BWM will premiere its latest Vision motorcycle in Los Angeles at its “Iconic Impulses. The BMW Group Future Experience” exhibition and event platform.
