Quebec-based company expands local engineering services capacity.

3D scanner company, Creaform, announced it will acquire Genicad, a Québec City company specializing in engineering, digital and mechanical design, project management and technical drawing. The acquisition became official October 29, 2010.

“The acquisition is part of Creaform’s growth strategy to strengthen regional operations, secure our position as a major player in the industry and expand our range of 3D engineering services to better meet the needs of our clientele,” said Creaform CEO Martin Lamontagne.

The Genicad acquisition is the latest in a series of major move by the company over the past year, including the acquisition in January of InSpeck, a 3D human body digitizing company, the opening of three new offices overseas this past summer and the launch in October of its MetraSCAN 3D scanner.

Genicad offices, located at 2260 Léon-Harmel in Québec City, will soon be closed and Genicad employees will be relocated to Creaform’s offices in Lévis . Creaform will keep the Sainte-Claire offices open where the employees are to remain.
