Facility expands European hazardous locations testing and certification services.

FRANKFURT, Germany — CSA Group, a global provider of testing and certification services and a developer of standards, has opened an office in Hannover, Germany that will focus on hazardous locations (hazloc) testing and certification, and functional safety.

CSA, based in Toronto, said the new team will work very closely with CSA Group’s global hazardous locations team to provide certification and associated services to German clients.

The Hannover office is integrated with CSA Group’s new state-of-the-art hazardous locations laboratory in Hawarden, UK, which opened in May.

The new laboratory supports compliance testing and offers ingress protection (IP) tests, temperature rise testing designed to simulate “real life” conditions, explosion and flameproof test cells, fuel dispenser testing and a “non-metal lab” specifically designed to reduce the risk of sparking.
