Toronto, ON — Design Engineering magazine took home a silver award at the 57th annual Kenneth R. Wilson Awards last night. Hosted by the Canadian Business Press, the KRW awards honor the best in Canadian business journalism and magazine artwork.
Twice nominated in the Best Technology / Industrial / Manufacturing Article category, editor Mike McLeod won for his October 2010 cover story (“Whale of an Idea”) that profiles Canadian technology company WhalePower and its Humpback whale-inspired airfoil design.
The magazine also received an honorable mention for McLeod’s January/February 2010 cover story (“Get Your Motor Running”) detailing the partnership between Autodesk, Stratasys and Canadian mechanical designer Nino Caldarola to create some of the world’s largest rapid prototyped models.
This year’s award was the second time Design Engineering has received praise at the Canadian Business Press event. The magazine took home gold in 2007 for its profile of Toronto-based golf club manufacturer Element 21.
