DS releases Solidworks Electrical

CAD/CAM/CAE CAD electrical machine design SolidWorks2D electrical schematics and 3D modeling application allows mechanical and electrical teams to better collaborate on designs.
Dassault Systèmes has announced SolidWorks Electrical, an integrated modeling add-in for designing 2D schematics and 3D electrical models. Based on technology from Trace Software, the new electrical applications, Solidworks says, make it easy for engineers and designers to plan electrical systems and integrate them into an overall 3D mechanical models.
SolidWorks Electrical will come in three flavours when it officially goes on sale in August. The 2D schematic design tool, SolidWorks Electrical, features a library of more than 500,000 standard electrical parts and also spots layout problems with real-time error detection.
It also integrates with SolidWorks Electrical 3D, a SW add-in that allows bi-directional updates between 2D and 3D to synchronize electro-mechanical designs.
Separation/segregation checking, and provide real‐time links to 2D detailing tools
In addition to allowing placement of all electrical components in the 3D model, Electrical 3D can auto‐route cables/wires based on 2D schematic data; ensures electrical runs are separated to prevent interference; and helps calculate cable/wire/harness lengths.
The third option will be SolidWorks Electrical Professional which includes both Electrical and Electrical 3D in a single application. The first release of SolidWorks Electrical will be available in North America, Europe, and the Middle East in August 2012, with other regions and countries to follow.
