Industrial products firm stresses innovation to win place on Canada’s Top 100 Employers listing.

14-May-Eaton-chopper-625Eaton has been named as a top employer for young people in Canada by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. Published by Mediacorp Canada Inc., the listing recognizes the nation’s leaders when it comes to attracting and retaining younger workers.

First among the company’s qualities cited that helped it make the listing this year was its rotational leadership development program, which hires new grads into full-time roles in various departments including operations, technical sales, supply chain and finance. The program lasts from one to three years and includes mentoring with a peer and senior leader.

In addition, Eaton Canada created a 2-day “Day of Innovation” event that provides employees with an opportunity to work in teams to create a technical application or discuss an idea of innovation. The company also hosts monthly “5-7” after-work gatherings to problem solve and discuss technical subjects

“Innovation and adaptability don’t exist in a vacuum,” said Richard Yerema, managing editor of Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, which oversees the competition. “Employers that make it easier for young people to thrive in their careers, it turns out, also make their organizational DNA more resilient and able to adapt faster to change.”
