Eclipse, Spartan score Best Managed Company awards

Canadian automation firms recognized for overall business performance and sustained growth.

For the sixth year in a row, Eclipse Automation has been named among Canada Best Managed Companies by Deloitte’s annual award program, a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the management skills and practices of Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $25 million.

Since its first win in 2014, Eclipse has successfully requalified every year since, to maintain its status as a Best Managed Gold Standard company. According to the award presenters, Eclipse won for its ability to gain tremendous success while investing in technology, talent, innovation and global business best practices.

According to the company, Eclipse has grown substantially in the past year, with acquisitions of D&D Automation, a controls engineering specialist in Stratford, Ontario, as well as Transmoduls Ltd. in Veszprem, Hungary, a multi-facility campus of automation solutions for the automotive, electronics, food and medical markets.

Taken all together, Eclipse’s workforce has reached more than 700 members in 14 facilities across North America and Europe. In addition to their head office and multiple sites in Cambridge, Ontario, Eclipse has North American locations in Rock Hill, South Carolina and Mesa, Arizona.

“This is our sixth consecutive year of recognition as one of Canada’s Best Managed companies. In addition to the Best Mananged Company award, Canadian Business and Maclean’s magazines also ranked Eclipse on the 2019 Growth 500 list of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies for its sixth year in a row in 2019. Ranked #256, Eclipse was recognized for its five-year revenue growth of 349%, compared to the previous year’s ranking of #206 with a similar five-year revenue growth of 344%.

Not to be outdone, Calgary-based Spartan Controls was also named this year as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. The 2020 award is Spartan Controls’ 19th consecutive designation. For the last 12 years, the company has been a member of Canada’s Best Managed Platinum Club, by retaining its Best Managed designation for over seven consecutive years.
