The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) has released its white paper titled IIC Introduction to Edge Computing in IIOT. The report provides practical guidance on edge computing, architectures and the building blocks necessary for edge computing implementations.
As a global organization focused on the evolution of best business practises, the IIC founded themselves on the notion of accelerating the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for the betterment of society.
“With the publication of this white paper, we provide practical guidance on where the ‘edge’ is and the key drivers for implementing edge computing,” said Todd Edmunds, Senior Solution Architect, IoT, Cisco and co-author of the white paper.
“We also provide detail on edge computing architectures and real-world use cases.”
In the coming months, IIC plans on releasing their Edge Computing Technical Report, which will provide technical details and a variety of specs for developers and engineers to utilize.
