Automation Motion ControlAcquisition latest in a long-term growth strategy for Ontario system integrator.
London, Ont. – London-based JMP Engineering, Inc. announced that it has acquired Automation Applications Inc (AAI), an industrial engineering and systems integrator based in Exton, PA.
According to JMP vice president Paul Wilson, this acquisition will grow the automation company by 12 employees and is latest acquisition in a strategic 30-year plan. In June 2010, the company similarly acquired Soft Design Automation of Brampton, Ontario.
“Our plan is to continue to expand with one or two additions a year,” he says. “It just makes sense to find companies with a geography and competency that compliments our own and fits within our on-going 30-year plan to grow to a large size.”
In the case of AAI, Wilson says AAI owns a significant share of the North American boiler controls market as well as core competencies in the food, pharmaceutical, and consumer products.
“The appeal for companies like AAI in joining JMP is that they can go back to their clients, like Hershey and GlaxoSmithKline, and offer them services they didn’t have before. At the same time, they now have access to 1,000+ clients to offer our services,” he says.
Currently, Wilson says the company plans to add more locations and competencies in the future: “Hopefully they will come together soon.”
