MDA gets $14.7 million contract extension

Richmond, B.C. — Space technology company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) has extended a logistics contract with the Canadian Space Agency for an additional $14.7 million. The extension will last through March 2013 and brings the total value of the contract to $152.7 million.

The company said Friday that it signed the contract amendment to provide logistics and engineering services for the agency’s mobile servicing system, which includes Canadarm2, it mobile base and the two-armed telemanipulator Dextre .

The system, which provides support for visiting vehicles and ongoing maintenance, was developed under contract to the CSA as Canada’s contribution to the International Space Station.
