MDA receives amendments for RADARSAT’s design phase

Contract amendments worth CAD$9.11 million for space robotics firm.

Richmond, BC — MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced that it has signed a contract amendment with the Canadian Space Agency totaling CA$9.11 million, for the Design Phase of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission. The amendment continues the long lead procurement of parts and equipment needed for the Build Phase.

An evolution of the CSA’s RADARSAT program, Constellation is a three satellite system that will provide complete coverage of Canada’s land and oceans It is being designed for maritime surveillance, disaster management and ecosystem monitoring including forestry, agriculture, wetlands and coastal change monitoring. Mission development began in 2005, with satellite launches planned for 2014 and 2015.
