General business expansion

3D-P, a provider of technology products for the mining industry, expanded its engineering and manufacturing facility in Calgary, Alta., and relocated its corporate office to larger facilities in Scottsdale, Ariz., in order to accommodate increased customer demand and a growing staff.

3D-P manufactures the Intelligent Endpoint product line, a set of communications platforms designed for the mining and heavy industrial environment. Intelligent Endpoints provide connectivity for on-machine applications, including those not designed with modern communication networks in mind.

“Customer demand for our new product line, particularly the recently announced e30 Sabre, has been exceptional,” vice-president of engineering Evan Hansen said. “This expansion has allowed us to double the size of our manufacturing facilities and implement dedicated task stations for each manufacturing process, allowing us to meet this demand with the quality products our customers expect.”

The company also makes the PROXIS Situational Awareness System, an optional component of the Intelligent Endpoint product line. The system lets operators know if there are light vehicles or personnel in blind spots. Using multiple sensors to derive relative positioning, the system can reveal personnel working under haul trucks or even a mechanic in an engine compartment.

The expanded Calgary facility also boasts additional office space for engineering staff, new training and conference rooms, dedicated research and development facilities, a prototyping lab and the expansion of clean room facilities.
