NSK Canada placed 2nd in Semi Pro Open mode and 8th in Semi Pro Super Stock at the 27th Grand Prix Ski-doo national event in Valcourt, Que., on Feb. 21 to 22, 2009. Racers compete in over 150 races in 33 categories.
The NSK sled driven by Tim Tremblay won its preliminary heat to advance to the final round of competition in the Semi Pro Super Stock event. Of more than 40 competitors, only 16 raced in the main event, where the NSK-sponsored Warnert Racing team placed 8th overall.
This year’s race marks the 50th anniversary of the Ski-doo, which was first produced in 1959 by Bombardier in Valcourt, Que. In celebration of the 50 years of Bombardier’s Ski-doo production, the week of festivities were a homecoming for all Ski-doo enthusiasts to the birthplace of the wintertime machine.
NSK is the sponsor of the Warnert Racing team and official bearing supplier for the entire Ski-doo racing program. “Our involvement with the Grand Prix event, and with ski-doo racing, has allowed us to really connect with the public and showcase our quality products in a very real way,” says Eric Dion of NSK Canada. This race season marks NSK’s inaugural year working with Warnert Racing. Quebec native Tremblay has been racing for NSK and is currently ranked second overall in the national tour standings.
