
Bombardier appoints COO of aerospace division and engineering services

The aerospace division of Bombardier has appointed Danny Di Perna as Chief Operating Officer effective September 15. According to Bombardier the creation of this new position comes as the result of restructured senior management.
Having recently served as vice-president of global sourcing at GE Power, Perna will report to Chief Executive Officer Alain Bellemare.
“We are thrilled to welcome Danny to the Bombardier leadership team,” said Bellemare. “He is an exceptional and engaging leader, with deep aerospace experience and a proven track record of success improving operational efficiency at leading industrial and aerospace companies.”
In a position that also oversees the Aerostructures and Engineering Services segment of Bombardier, Perna will assume responsibility for leading the company’s aerospace engineering, procurement and transformation functions.

The announcement comes in the midst of a strategic five-year turnaround that saw the aerospace giant sell off the financial turbulent C series to Airbus in order to boost revenue and refocus efforts elsewhere.
Outside of GE Power Perna has served in various senior positions with United Technologies, including senior vice president of operations for UTC’s Pratt & Whitney Division and vice president and general manager of the Auxiliary Power Division for the Hamilton Sundstrand Division.
