HEIDENHAIN introduced its RCN 6000 series, a family of sealed angle encoders with integral bearings and a hollow shaft diameter of 180mm (7.09 inches. The series utilize the company’s METALLUR process (in which the graduation is applied directly to the bearing ring) and a reflected light scanning method which allows larger mounting tolerances. The RCN 6000 encoder provides a through hole of 180mm, overall height of 44mm, a system accuracy of ±2 inches, can handle speeds up to 200 rpm. It’s also able to interface with EnDat22, Fanuc05 and Mit03-4, and has an IP64 protection reducing the effort required for protective measures.
