Yaskawa America introduced its SGM7F, a line of direct drive servo motors that
delivers from 4 to 35 Nm of torque in a device as small as 2.1 inches high and 5.3 inches in diameter (53x135mm). Direct drive products allow a load to be directly attached to the servomotor, without the need for a shaft coupling or gearhead. According to the company, the line also offers a superior level of torsional stiffness and virtually eliminates mechanical backlash. Other advantages include 24-bit encoding and a self-cooled, open core design that adapts to shaft mounting and allows wiring to pass through
The SGM7F line offers eight different models.
