DALSA's Piranha3 16k CMOS-based line scan camera first with new high-speed interface.

WATERLOO — DALSA Corporation introduced the Piranha3 16k CMOS line scan camera which features 16k resolution with a 3.5 µm pixel size and a 70 kHz line rate for 1146 Mpixels/s throughput. Within a form factor of 150 x 80 x 77 mm, the camera features DALSA’s CMOS technology which includes on-chip ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion) and CDS (Correlated Double Sampling).

The Piranha3 16k also incorporates the company’s HSLink1 machine vision connectivity interface which adds new features and functions to the Camera Link interface and features scalable bandwidth in 300 megabyte/second steps up to 6000 megabytes/second using off-the-shelf components. The is also supported by DALSA’s Xcelera-HS PX8 frame grabber that, in combination with the HSLink interface, delivers image acquisition bandwidth of 1.8 gigabytes/second and host transfer bandwidth of 2 gigabytes/second over multiple-lane PCI Express implementations. The Piranha3 16k camera is scheduled for general availability in Q1 2011.
