Siemens introduced its Sinumerik MC controller, a PC-based CNC system designed for for fabrication and specialty machines. Running Windows 10, the system is equipped with the Sinumerik numerical control (NC) kernel, an integrated Simatic S7-1500F PLC and Safety Integrated as the Siemens industry standard for safety and implements the multi-layer Defense-in-Depth-Concept for IT-Security. The Sinumerik MC can be engineered in Siemens’ Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal that supports conventional PLC languages and high-level language programming. This is assisted by Siemens’ Sinumerik Operate, the graphical user interface of the Siemens CNC system.
