Positioning Stage

Steinmeyer, Inc. announced its PMT320, a line of linear stages that offer repeatability of +/- 1 micron and travel distances from 600 to 1500 mm. The 1000 mm stroke stage weighs 70 kg and has a 320 mm wide die cast base profile and the stage. The series offers two drive options: a servo linear motor or DC rotary motor with precision ground ball screw. Feedback is provided by a linear encoder. Depending on the drive chosen, its maximum acceleration is 5 m/sec² (0.5G) with a maximum speed of 500 mm/s.
Linear guidance is provided by size 25 precision linear profile rails, which gives the PMT320 a load capacity of 500 kg. Flatness and straightness run-out is +/- 2 microns over any 100 mm travel.
