Formlabs Fuse 1+ 30W prints at scan speeds of up to 12.5 m/s.

Formlabs released the Fuse 1+ 30W, an upgraded version of its Fuse 1 SLS printer but with a 30W laser a galvanometer system. Together, they boost the printer’s scan speeds of up to 12.5 meters per second. The 3D printer sports the same 165 x 165 x 300mm build volume as its predecessor but features improved powder handling and optional inert nitrogen environment. A new agitator within the powder hopper creates a consistent, smooth delivery of material into the build chamber, the company says, which enables the use of Nylon 11 CF powder. The Fuse 1+ comes with the company’s print preparation software, PreForm, which features part packing algorithms that automatically arrange models in a build to maximize the packing density.
