General Balluff vision sensor

Balluff’s new Sharpshooter ID vision sensor reads linear and data matrix codes.

Balluff’s line of Sharpshooter vision sensors now includes an ID version designed to read a large range of linear bar codes and 2D Data Matrix codes, as well as optical character verification (OCV). The sensor can read more than 10 types of linear bar codes, including PDF417 and 2D Data Matrix codes. The Data Matrix code reader is designed to read both printed and DPM (direct part mark) based marks. The ID version also has an OCV tool that can verify alphanumeric characters like date codes or expiration codes that can typically coexist with barcodes.

The Sharpshooter ID incorporates Balluff’s new higher resolution algorithm, providing standard vision resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The ID code reader is also ECC 200 compliant and includes an Ethernet and Serial communication port as well as pass/fail I/O.

The Sharpshooter ID vision sensor uses CONVIS, the simple 3-step configuration software that is Windows based. The Sharpshooter ID version also has the storage capacity of 20 configurations/jobs, remote job switching via I/O, external lighting trigger and internal image storage.
