NexGen System represents significant production advancements for AM powders, the company says.

PyroGenesis Canada recently announced its NexGen Plasma Atomization System, which produces metal powder at over 25 kg/h. According to the company, the system allows for higher production rates, narrower particle size distribution and little to no waste. As a result, PyroGenesis says it will be able to offer powdered build material, including titanium, at a price that opens the technology to more users.

“Higher production rates allow PyroGenesis to provide plasma atomized powders at exceedingly competitive price points,” said Mr. P. Peter Pascali, President and CEO of PyroGenesis. This would allow high value materials to be accessible to many new markets, which have up until now found these high value materials, such as titanium, to be too costly.”

In March, the company announced the first delivery of specialty reactive powder to an unnamed government entity, using the NexGen Plasma Atomization System, which represents the first commercial contract to be fulfilled with the unit.
