Saving for a rainy day: Alberta faces short and long term financial challenges, despite its oil wealth

Budgeting the future on one product or resource is never, respectively, a sound business or economic policy. That appears to be happening in the province of Alberta, where the government has been budgeting based – and betting – heavily on the oil and gas sector without saving for a rainy day.
