Siemens completes $10B Altair acquisition to boost industrial AI capabilities

March 27, 2025 – Siemens has completed its acquisition of Altair Engineering Inc.—a provider of software in the industrial simulation and analysis market—for an enterprise value of approximately $10 billion US.

“Adding Altair’s groundbreaking innovations to the Siemens Xcelerator platform will create the world’s most complete AI-powered design, engineering, and simulation portfolio,” said Siemens AG president & CEO Roland Busch. “Together, we will help our customers to innovate at the scale and speed that today’s complexity-driven world demands.”

With this acquisition, Siemens expands its capabilities in simulation and industrial AI by adding new strengths in mechanical and electromagnetic simulation, high-performance computing (HPC), data science, and artificial intelligence.
