Stellantis expands Mistral AI partnership to boost vehicle production

Stellantis and Mistral AI are deepening their strategic collaboration to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into vehicle development, customer interaction and manufacturing.

The partnership, which has been ongoing for more than a year, leverages Mistral AI’s expertise in large language models (LLMs) to improve data analysis, streamline production and enhance driver experience. The latest development in this collaboration is an AI-powered in-car assistant that provides real-time, conversational support for vehicle owners.

The AI-powered assistant functions as a voice-enabled user manual, allowing drivers to ask questions about vehicle features, troubleshooting, and warning indicators. Instead of referring to a printed manual, customers can now receive immediate guidance through natural, conversational interactions. Stellantis plans to continuously update the assistant to adapt to different models and brands, ensuring a seamless and intuitive in-car experience.

Beyond the in-car assistant, Stellantis is integrating AI into several critical areas. This includes a bill of materials data intelligence tool that helps engineers analyze and optimize part selections, AI-driven vehicle feedback analysis to improve product quality, and a Club Stellantis virtual assistant designed to assist employees in purchasing company vehicles. Additionally, Stellantis is testing AI-driven anomaly detection in manufacturing, allowing real-time quality control to reduce defects before parts are released.

“There are many players in the AI space, and we’re particularly happy to partner with Mistral AI for its strong ability to adapt quickly and drive meaningful results in a highly collaborative way,” Stellantis Chief Engineering & Technology Officer Ned Curic says.
