Bombardier selects suppliers for aircraft programs

At the Quebec Aerospace Association Annual Convention, Bombardier Aerospace will announce over 20 Canadian suppliers have been selected for the CSeries and Learjet 85 aircraft programs. Additional suppliers have yet to be selected for the 3,000 to 4,000 parts remaining to be sourced.

The Canadian companies selected for the CSeries program include:

• Delastek, located in Grand-Mere, Quebec, will supply the Integrated Flight Deck Package.
• Marinvent Corporation of St-Bruno, Quebec, has been selected to develop the CSeries aircraft brand-new flight test management software.
• Mecachrome of Mirabel and Elisen Technologies of Dorval, Quebec, are providing engineering services for the design and stress analysis of the fuselage.
• The Montreal branch of Aeroconseil will help Bombardier with proactive engineering tools to ensure specific aircraft systems are developed and implemented in full compliance with certification requirements.
• Over 30 subcontrators of Wieland-Davco from Quebec are building the Complete Integrated Aircraft Systems Test Area (CIASTA), a testing and systems-proving facility that will house a virtual CSeries test aircraft.

For the Learjet 85 aircraft program Thales, located in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, will provide the spoiler system and C&D Zodiac of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, will design and produce the aircraft’s interior package. In addition, 14 Fabricated Metal Parts suppliers were also selected for the CSeries and/or Learjet 85 aircraft including

Abipa Canada Inc, Avior, DCM Aeronautique, Aviation Lemex Inc., Mecachrome Canada, Groupe Meloche Inc., all of Quebec; Cam-Tag Industries Inc., Coordinate Industries Ltd., Cyclone Manufacturing, Dellcom Industries Inc., Koss Aerospace, Noranco Inc., all of Ontario; Apex Industries, of New Brunswick and IMP Group of Nova Scotia.

In addition to the recently named suppliers, Pratt & Whitney Canada is building a facility in Mirabel, Quebec where the final assembly and testing of the CSeries aircraft’s leading-edge PurePower PW1524G engine will be conducted. In addition, the clean-sheet Learjet 85 aircraft will be powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307B engines.

CAE will provide a comprehensive suite of engineering services and simulation-based technology tools to support the design, testing and certification of the CSeries aircraft and will build a prototype Full Flight Simulator. The company will also provide the Full Flight Simulator for the Learjet 85 aircraft, which will be used for training and to support aircraft testing and certification.
