Burloak announces Additive Manufacturing Technology Centre

Burloak Technologies and its parent company, Mississauga’s Samuel, Son & Co., announced they will invest $80.5 million in the creation of an Additive Manufacturing Technology Centre in Burlington, Ontario. In addition, the federal government has pledged a repayable investment of $14 million toward the centre along with a $7 million Ontario grant bring the total value of the project to $104.7 million. The project is scheduled for completion by December 2022.

“Additive manufacturing is a rapidly developing technology that is destined to become a multi-billion-dollar industry,” said Peter Adams, president and co-founder of Burloak Technologies. “Through its investment in the Burloak Technologies Advanced Manufacturing Center, the provincial government is showing its leadership and support for innovation in the manufacturing sector and is helping to establish world-class 3D printing capabilities right here in Ontario.”.

According to the company, the investment, made possible through the Strategic Innovation Fund, will help create 295 Canadian jobs by 2026 and generate more R&D, more collaboration with post-secondary institutions and help strengthen the region’s advanced manufacturing cluster and supply chain.
