Heidenhain RCN encoder series feature greater mounting tolerances, optimized scanning.

HEIDENHAIN introduced its RCN 2000, RCN 5000 and RCN 8000 series of absolute angle encoders that include greater mounting tolerances, optimized scanning and evaluation electronics with diagnostic functions. In addition, the encoders feature quick disconnect cables and a variety of hollow shaft diameters. According to the company, the encoders’ greater mounting tolerances are due to the stator couplings’ better axial and radial deflection behavior, as well as torsional rigidity. Also, with a single-field scanning principle with a special optical filtering, the resulting position errors within one signal period are typically smaller by a factor of three to four compared to previous angle encoders.
