Calgary-based Aeronautical Engineering Technologist, SolidWorks guru, CAD blogger and Design Engineering contributing editor, Ben Eadie, is holding a contest for inventive types who’d like a shot at making their latest creative design a reality.

On his weekly MechanicalMashup.tv video podcast, Eadie announced that he will donate up to eight hours of his design expertise plus a free model of their idea from Solidoo 3D printer to one contestant entrant.

To enter, entrants simply need to visit the podcasts website (http://mechanicalmashup.tv/episodes/episode-17) and click the www.digg.com link promote the episode to the social networking media site’s “front page” (free digg.com account required). At the contest’s end on July 27, one entrant will be chosen at random from the Digg.com list. The winner will be announced on the mechanicalmashup.tv podcast. The only restriction on entries is that the model size can’t be larger than the build space of the Solidoo 3D printer (5.3" x 8.3" x 6.3")

Targeted at those who enjoy hacking together useful contraptions from spare parts, mechanicalmashup.tv podcasts features useful and/or slightly dangerous but fun how-to projects. In the latest episode (below), Eadie demonstrates how to make a video camera stablizer out of PVC pipe.
