Automation Motion Control gantry Robot

One of North America’s largest beer distribution centers to utilize robotic case picking system to handle 250,000 cases per day.

Grimsby, Ontario – RMT Robotics has been awarded a contract to supply a large-scale robotic case picking solution for a major North American beer distributor. The system, which has a footprint of less than 40,000 square feet, is designed to pick 300 SKUs at a rate of more than 250,000 cases per day. The project is scheduled to start in late 2011. Specific details of the contract are subject to confidentiality.

According to the distributor’s director of information technology, the decision to go with the RMT Robotics case picking solution is based on its small footprint and innovative design.

The automated case picking system consists of several robotic gantries, picking a mixture of loose cases and full layers. According to the company, the system will provide 100 percent picking accuracy, reduce product damage and dramatically improve product traceability. An intelligent replenishment routine ensures the size of the system is minimized by storing only the inventory needed to fulfill orders.
