OWEN SOUND, ON – Canada’s largest manufacturing consortium – Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) has announced a new initiative with BMO Bank of Montreal, providing a high-value manufacturing resource for industry throughout Ontario.

Manufacturers are increasingly faced with ‘hyper competition’ where global interests are often able to quote on business with significantly lower costs.  The only way for manufacturers to remain viable here at home is to level the playing field.  Helping manufacturers become more productive, reduce enterprise-wide costs and access the best financial information possible to grow their businesses into new markets and sectors.

As manufacturers and the banking industry have evolved, there has been a greater need to understand the challenges and issues facing the industry. “We have developed a dedicated team of qualified account managers – across the country – who understand the manufacturing industry and are committed to ensuring our clients have the tools and resources that will help them achieve short-term and long-term success,” said Al Giguere, VP, Commercial Banking, BMO Bank of Montreal.

Building on EMC’s model of success with regionally-based manufacturing clusters, the EMC-BMO Manufacturing Banking Program will enable manufacturers to access greater subject-matter-expertise, banking resources and direct access to manufacturing banking experts, through a dedicated, industry-driven program.

“Nobody knows the challenges affecting manufacturing better than the manufacturers themselves,” said Al Diggins, president and general manager of EMC.  “Gone are the days of the ‘old-fashioned banker’ who intimately knew each client, their goals and challenges.  We are pleased to be working together with BMO to reconnect industry with their bankers, build trusted relationships and provide better information and competitive resources for our members to be successful.”

“We are committed to the Canadian manufacturing sector and feel honoured to partner with EMC on this important initiative,” Mr. Giguere added. “We understand the importance of not only building relationships with our customers, but also providing them with tailored resources. At BMO, we’re here to help.”

Manufacturers interested in accessing these resources may contact Laura Gibson. This program is open to all manufacturers and is free for EMC members.
