UltiMaker launches MakerBot SKETCH Large

Education targeted 3D printer features expanded build space and training resources.


UltiMaker unveiled its MakerBot SKETCH Large 3D printer, that features a larger build volume (220 x 200 x 250mm) than the company’s standard SKETCH printer. It features a fully-enclosed chamber, a particulate filter, a heated and flexible build plate, touchscreen capabilities, onboard camera, material sensors and Wi-Fi and USB capabilities. The printer comes with three spools of MakerBot PLA and is compatible with MakerBot TOUGH materials.

Beyond hardware, purchase also include one teacher license and 15 student licenses for the MakerBot Certification training programs, which includes interactive design thinking courses. The printer also integrates with Google for Education and MakerBot CloudPrint, a cloud-based print preparation and classroom management application. Students also gain access to MakerBot Education on Thingiverse, which includes hundreds of lesson plans and projects.
