300 Waterloo university students seek immediate placement for Sept-Dec 2015 work term.

15-March-co-op-engineering-Canada-625University of Waterloo announced that currently more than 300 “last-minute” co-op students are looking for employment for the September-December 2015 work term from across 122 accredited programs. In addition, the university is also taking applications for the January – April 2016 Work Term

For more than 50 years, the Ontario university has made co-op placement a central part of students’ education. Today, in partnership with approximately 5,200 Canadian and international companies, the university operates the largest post secondary co-op program of its kind in the world.

Interested companies can post a job through the university’s online job registration form and interview students in-person on the Waterloo campus or via telephone or Skype.

For the September – December 2015 work term, job descriptions are due by September 23 followed by an interview cycle running daily from October 5 to October 29. For the January – April 2016 work term, the job posting cycle runs from November 4 to mid – February 2016, with a weekly interview cycle on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning November 9.

Co-op terms are paid terms and the university provides a guide for hourly and weekly rates to determine the potential salary. . Although an expenditure, hiring a co-op student, Waterloo emphasizes, typically costs less than hiring a short-term contract, temp or part-time employee. In addition, Ontario offers a tax credit of up to $3,000.00 per student per term.
