Large part metal AM printer

During the Formnext 2022 show in November, SLM Solutions announced that the it was readily the release of a record breaking printer capable of producing metal parts up to a size of 3.0 x 1.2 x 1.2 Meter (LxWxH). According to the company, its yet unnamed large-part machine, based on its SLM technology, will encompass a core unit and a build envelope flexible in size that allows the manufacture of components in individual dimensions. It’s flexible build space will allow the production of cylindrical parts with a diameter of 1.8 meters and a height of 1.6 meters or alternatively long parts with a dimension of up to 3.0 x 1.2 x 1.2 Meter. It will also be capable of a build rate of up to 330 cm³/h, the company says.
