AS-Interface I/O Modules

Pepperl+Fuchs announced that its KE-style enclosure-mount AS-Interface I/O modules are now available with advanced diagnostic features. With these redesigned modules, should an output wire be disconnected, switchable lead breakage detection automatically sends the peripheral fault signal to the upper level controller. Any input pulse or noise spike of less than 2 ms is automatically filtered out by input pulse suppression.  Advanced diagnostic LEDs alert the user to reverse polarity, overload or short circuit conditions that corrective action can be quickly taken.

The KE-style AS-Interface modules feature 4 inputs and 4 outputs, and feature a 22.5 mm housing designed for cramped enclosures. The modules lso include removable, mechanical and color coded terminals. Additional features include communication monitoring; inputs for 2- and 3-wire sensors; an addressing jack; power supply of outputs from the external auxiliary voltage; selectable supply to the sensors; and Function display for bus, external auxiliary voltage, internal sensor supply, inputs and outputs.

AS-Interface is a simple wiring replacement technology that allows a single 2-wire cable to carry up to 248 inputs and 248 outputs.  Enclosure-mount I/O modules are used to connect sensors and actuators to AS-Interface, and are ideal for tight enclosure applications.
