HARTING’s latest Han-Smart Modules integrate Ethernet, surge production and CAN ID storage.

HARTING has launched three Han-Smart modules, including the Mini-Switch US4 module, a 4-port unmanaged Ethernet Mini-Switch that supports RJ-45 terminated Ethernet devices. The module facilitates additional Ethernet nodes to make expansion or retrofitting simpler. The Plug&Play module supports 10/100/1000 Mbits/s and surge protection plus integrated LEDs for power and network diagnostics.

The company’s Surge Protection module features transient overvoltage protection for analog and digital devices in the connector. It protects up to two pairs of balanced signals interfacing with electrical isolation against normative 8/20μs current pulses. The module is designed for protecting low voltage signal interfaces (24VDC) or machinery using 0/4-20mA current.

The Han-Modular CAN ID Module has 10MB of memory storage for retaining the status of drives and their parameters, eliminating the need for hardcopies or electronic files on a server. In the event of a device exchange, there is no data loss since a correct connection is assured with verification using the stored machine data. Markets for this module include wind energy, industrial building automation, machinery and robotics.
