Large-format metal 3D printer

Velo3D, Inc. announced it has added the Sapphire XC 1MZ, a metal printer that creates parts one meter in height. According to the company, the machine’s total build volume is twice that of the Sapphire XC and nine times larger than the company’s original Sapphire.

Features of the Sapphire XC 1MZ include eight 1-kilowatt lasers and the largest build volume of any laser powder bed fusion printer in its class – 600 mm x 1,000 mm. The printer includes the company’s Flow print preparation software and Intelligent Fusion manufacturing process for consistent, repeatable results across different printers. The XC 1MZ also features a faster non-contact recoater and increased throughput of up to 400% over the original Sapphire and Sapphire 1MZ printers, the company says.
